The Guide of Webmasters and Webmistresses

Finding a site:
There are plenty of site-makers out there. But it is hard to choose the right one.

Webs (Freewebs)- free, okay templates, a little complicated to design. It also provides a custom CSS, but that is only for those of you who can write CSSs. It provides a guestbook, forum, and other great stuff. It is one of my favorites.

Zetaboards- ONLY a forum, free, great if you want to learn CSS (Cascading Style Sheet). It also has GREAT templates. Very good if you want a good forum or are looking into graphic design.

Proboards- free, not as complicated as Zetaboards, and doesn’t have templates as far as I know. It is also just a forum.

Bravenet- free, pretty good site, it has templates, or CSS, a little hard to navigate around, but okay.

Weebly- free, pretty good site templates, a less complex version of Webs in my humble opinion. It is what I use and have found most helpful.

Finding a title and topic:
In this age, you want a topic for your site, so that people who find you site find many different topics, if they are searching for only one topic. You also want a catchy name that is easy to remember, and a website name that pertains to the title.

Finding graphics:
It is probably a good idea to have a theme that also pertains to the topic of choice. If you don’t know how to create a theme, find a website builder that has themes you like. That is why in the first place I chose Webs, but that was far too slow for me, so I decided to go with Weebly. You also might want to change the template every few months so your guests don’t get bored.

All of things I have said above can be packaged down to…

The Top 6 things you need for a good site:
A catchy title
An interesting topic
Eye-catching graphics
Easy website address
Interaction in some way with the guests
Advertising
